Being Money Wise

Today we had Anina from ASB to come and tell us how to use our money. She told use that she did not have much when she came to New Zealand but she had enough for food, clothes and a roof over their heads.

I learnt that it’s not about what school you go to our what culture you are from it is about how you use your money. I also learnt that you don't have to go straight to a doctor our what you want to do you can start by maybe working at a fast food restaurant.I also learnt that when you borrow money from the bank you have to pay it back but if you don’t pay it back in time you will be charged. You also have to pay for tax, bills, power, clothes and food.

Be money wise and use money wise so when you grow up you don’t know how to give money.

Wear a hat out doors

Do you know why we have to wear a hat outdoors? Because 4,000 people have skin cancer in New Zealand. You might be elated but remember to be sunsmart and put on sunscreen every 2 Hours and to wear a hat. A hat protects your Face, Neck, Ears and more.

Do you know why this happens? This happens as a result of the uvr that the sun hits and damages your eyes, skin which will lead to skin cancer. Wear your hat on from 10 am to 4 pm and from April to September. Do you know where the hottest place is in the world is New Zealand and Australia. On the 7th of February 2017 in New zealand it got up to 30 decrease.

Some please be sunsmart and wear and hat and some sunscreen everyday because you never know when the day is going to change.

Omaru Creek

Omaru Creek

Did you know how bad the Omaru Creek is? The Omaru Creek is so bad that the Maintenance crew had to called urgently. They came straight here and found the Glen Innes Omaru Creek in bad conditions.

They found that there was wet wipes, fat, rubbish and a lot more going into the creek. The Maintenance Crew put in fresh water and also did a test for five days.
Glen Innes School heard about this problem and is going to do something about it.Our school is going to work as a team to get this creek clean, maybe some help from the community. This is a severe situation so we are trying to clean a small section of the creek.

We went down to the creek, picked out our spot close to Apirana Road. In our part  we saw  cans, moss, clothes and much much more. The aim is to turn it back into a freshwater creek.

Everyone has a role in this Creek so it’s everyone's responsibility.
